Japan 2009! 24th December - WEDDING DAY!

Just a few shots from my wedding on the 24th December – an incredible day!

Opted against NHK being present, our photographers did an amazing job i’m sure you’ll agree, i’ll be sharing more in the future!

Husband and Wife outside Kamigamo!

It was an absolutely incredible day, followed by a delicious(and very large!) meal at a traditional restaurant back at the hotel.Even a day later I can barely move!

Unexpectedly we recieved a number of gifts from the shrine, each with special meanings and uses for our life ahead. They’ve travelled back safely with Emma’s parents but when we’re back in the UK I plan to write about these and include some photos.

Many thanks to Kamigamo Shrine for a beautiful ceremony and the Hotel Graniva for helping make this day happen!

Beautiful wedding! I had a shinto one myself! I’m sure NHK is firing the person who allowed you not to let them cover it!

Aw don’t say that i’ll feel bad! We were really flattered they asked and we didn’t say no for sure, we just requested to keep the ceremony private so agreeing the hotel respectfully told them no on our behalf. Thanks for the compliment it was a great day, I could’ve done with shedding some more pounds though.

Loving the look of the Lotus-root Stir-fry on your site I will have to give it a go. Ate them during our wedding meal, and the other day at a Yakitori stand and had no idea what they were so thanks for enlightening me!

Thanks Kirk! the clothes were amazing, so many layers made us nice and cosy on what turned out to be a mildly chilly day. The main jacket of my kimono had this awesome landscape drawing on the inner lining, it wasn’t visible when I was wearing it but I felt good knowing it was there :)
