First Impressions: HG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver 30th

It feels like forever since my last HGUC build, and what better a kit to get back into old habits with.

Modelled on the 1/1 Odaiba Gundam, this 30th anniversary special edition of the classic mobile suit looks like an awesome update of a classic design. First impressions herein.

Wow, only two runners

Wow, not including the weapons that’s only two runners for the whole thing! Looks like this will be a fairly quick build then, although it’ll probably need a bit of painting to bring it all together. The joints and inner frame of the 1/1 Gundam were painted elaborately with silver and bronze detailing, something i’d like to try and emulate (pics here at dannychoo.com)

Ooo metal chain

A cool addition to this kit is the real metal chain for the Gundam Hammer, something the Master Grade doesn’t even have! It also presents a pretty decent argument for painting the whole inner frame and joints gunmetal grey instead of just topcoating.

Going to go do a spot of panel lining now, have a great evening all!

Did you get to see the 1/1 Gundam?
